Pull-based planning involves pulling work into your To Do list as you need it rather than running regular planning sessions.
In traditional planning sessions teams often have trouble knowing when to stop leading to waste as they pull in too much or spend time discussing a work that they’ll never get to. The effect of this is amplified if the team goes into too much detail discussing each story rather than running a story kickoff as they pick up each story.
Your story map should already organised with work ordered in terms of importance in each epic and relevant epics included in each milestone - all you need to do is either take a slice across the top or go deep on an epic to find the next 5.
Fill up your 5 slots in To Do each day after the main standup meeting. It shouldn’t take more than a minute or two. You can use this time to quickly review the story map and existing priorities also.
